Investment Specialist – Development Finance

About the role

The Investment Specialist will support UNCDF’s blended‑finance platform by providing technical and financial advisory services that enable capital mobilisation for SDG‑aligned projects in least‑developed countries. The role bridges public and private resources, designing and structuring investments that generate development impact.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical and financial advisory to Member States and partners on development‑focused investments.
• Design bespoke financial structures, including grants, loans, guarantees and blended‑finance solutions.
• Conduct financial derisking and investment‑readiness assessments for project pipelines.
• Collaborate with private sector, UN agencies, DFIs, foundations and other stakeholders to mobilise and crowd‑in capital.
• Support the implementation of UNCDF’s strategic framework and the Doha Programme of Action.
• Prepare analytical reports, investment memoranda and monitoring tools for senior management.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in finance, economics, development studies or a related field.
• Proven experience in development finance, blended‑finance or investment analysis, preferably within an international organization.
• Strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and the challenges facing least‑developed countries.
• Ability to work in a multicultural UN environment and adhere to UN procurement and reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills.
