Investment Specialist

About the role

The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) is seeking an Investment Specialist to strengthen its blended‑finance platform. The role will support the design and implementation of grants, loans and guarantees that mobilise capital for Sustainable Development Goal‑aligned projects in least‑developed countries.

Key responsibilities

• Provide targeted technical and financial advisory services to Member States and partners on development‑impact investments.
• Design bespoke financial structuring solutions and undertake financial de‑risking of projects.
• Enhance investment readiness of SDG‑aligned initiatives through capacity‑building and advisory support.
• Mobilise and crowd‑in public and private capital by coordinating with UN agencies, development finance institutions, private sector partners and philanthropic organisations.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of funded projects to ensure alignment with UNCDF’s strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in finance, economics, development studies or a related field.
• Proven experience in development finance, blended‑finance mechanisms or investment advisory.
• Strong understanding of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Doha Programme of Action.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, multilateral environment and liaise with a wide range of stakeholders.
