Kiln Refractory Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

Dangote Industries is looking for an experienced Kiln Refractory Maintenance Supervisor in its production department in Congo (Brazzaville). The supervisor oversees the maintenance, inspection, repair and replacement of refractory materials in the kiln and other high-temperature equipment, ensuring refractory reliability and performance, reducing unplanned downtime and optimising service life while meeting safety, quality and operational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the condition and wear of refractories and run preventive and proactive maintenance programs
• Coordinate furnace shutdowns for inspection, repair and replacement of refractories
• Analyse furnace operating data to evaluate refractory performance and optimise service life
• Identify refractory failures and coordinate corrective actions with maintenance and production teams
• Supervise refractory contractors, ensuring quality, technical standards and cost control
• Use diagnostic tools such as thermal imaging to track refractory condition
• Improve furnace efficiency and reduce energy consumption
• Ensure safety compliance and carry out risk assessments; keep inspections, materials and work traceable
• Mentor and develop refractory technicians and furnace maintenance staff, and identify training needs
• Work with Production, Maintenance and Procurement teams and take part in continuous improvement initiatives

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including 8 years supervising, monitoring, installing, maintaining or managing refractory materials in industrial kilns
• Good knowledge of kiln operations, equipment and the industrial environment
• Leadership, supervisory and team management skills, and ability to work across departments with competing priorities
• Good knowledge of industrial QHSE requirements and practices
• Fluency in French is an advantage
