Market and Pricing Specialist – LNG
WSP au Canada · République démocratique du Congo
Job description
About the role
WSP Africa is seeking a Market and Pricing Specialist with deep expertise in liquefied natural gas (LNG) to support a large‑scale gas‑to‑power project. The role will provide independent commercial and market review across the LNG‑to‑burner value chain, ensuring the proposed fuel supply strategy is realistic, bankable and aligned with project assumptions.
Key responsibilities
- Review LNG and gas market fundamentals, demand‑supply assumptions, pricing bases and sensitivities used in the financial model.
- Assess LNG sourcing options, pricing structures, indexation mechanisms, cost‑stack assumptions and benchmark references.
- Evaluate contracting strategy and risk allocation for SPA/GSA, shipping and terminal services agreements.
- Analyse key contractual terms such as volume flexibility, quality, force majeure, take‑or‑pay, credit support and change‑in‑law provisions.
- Examine shipping, port, logistics, terminal and regasification feasibility, including outage and contingency arrangements.
- Review nominations, imbalance, measurement and settlement principles across the LNG‑to‑burner value chain.
- Assess counter‑party credit, FX, regulatory, customs, tax and compliance considerations affecting cost, schedule and bankability.
- Align fuel pricing risk treatment with power offtake or tariff structures, including pass‑through and indexation assumptions.
- Prepare commercial readiness memos, independent pricing and cost‑stack benchmarking notes and contract risk allocation commentary for phase‑gate decisions.
Required profile
- Proven experience in LNG market analysis, pricing and commercial risk assessment.
- Strong understanding of gas‑to‑power project economics and contractual frameworks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary technical, legal, finance and client teams.
- Attention to detail and capacity to produce clear, actionable commercial recommendations.
