Migration Health Nurse

About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a Migration Health Nurse to deliver essential health services at migration reception centres in Kinshasa, DRC. Working under the Chief of Mission and the National Medical Officer, you will ensure migrants and refugees receive comprehensive medical assessments and appropriate care before departure.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct daily nursing activities, including vital‑sign checks, weight, height, visual acuity, and sample collection (blood, urine, sputum).
- Perform imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, treatment referrals, and pre‑departure medical procedures.
- Provide clear information on health assessment processes and treatment pathways to migrants and refugees.
- Maintain accurate biodata, ID verification, and registers for all health investigations.
- Follow Health Assessment Programme check‑lists, SOPs, and universal precautions.
- Ensure proper transport of samples to designated laboratories.
- Manage pharmacy stock, medical kits, and emergency kits within the centre.
- Offer TB and HIV counselling, education, and prevention guidance.
- Prepare administrative reports, program updates, and support mobile mission planning.
Required profile
- Qualified nursing professional with experience in migrant or refugee health settings.
- Ability to perform comprehensive health assessments and maintain detailed records.
- Strong communication skills for explaining procedures to diverse populations.
- Capacity to work under supervision of senior medical staff and adhere to SOPs.
