Operations Specialist – Emergency Response (6 months)

About the role

The Operations Specialist will be based in Beni and Butembo and will provide strategic leadership and coordination of all operational functions for UNICEF’s Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role ensures that supply chain, finance, administration, risk management and ICT systems are agile, risk‑informed and able to meet emergency needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee supply chain, finance, administration, risk and ICT activities for the Ebola response.
• Ensure operational systems are responsive, efficient and aligned with the emergency response plan.
• Advise the senior Ebola Coordination team on operational risks, governance and resource optimisation.
• Champion value for money and strategic use of resources across all functions.
• Develop and retain a fit‑for‑purpose workforce, promoting technical competence and career progression.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing operations in humanitarian or emergency settings.
• Strong understanding of supply chain, financial, administrative, risk and ICT processes.
• Ability to work in insecure, complex environments and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, planning and communication skills.
