Planning Manager - Construction Projects

About the role

A building construction company, recruited through its client, is looking for an experienced Planning Manager in Kinshasa. The role oversees project planning and execution, ensuring smooth on-site operations with MS Projects, and coordinates with various teams to monitor progress, manage resources and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual operating plans and align them with overall project goals
• Generate and analyse weekly and monthly MIS reports, progress curves, delay analysis, risk analysis and look-ahead reports
• Set deadlines, target work programmes and manage project teams so tasks are completed on time and within scope
• Oversee on-site construction activities, resource use, cost management and budget adherence
• Coordinate the full project management cycle, from requirement gathering to final execution
• Lead design, engineering, planning and budgeting teams to develop technical and commercial tender documents
• Monitor progress, update management and lead periodic project review meetings

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• 5 to 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, billing and finishing works, preferably on high-rise developments
• Strong experience planning, monitoring, budgeting and managing construction projects from start to finish
• Experience producing and analysing MIS reports and progress documentation
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to handle confidential information and present detailed progress reports to senior management and investors

Required skills

• Proficiency in project management software, especially MS Projects
• Ability to implement cost control measures and manage manpower, equipment and materials within budget
• Knowledge of construction processes, procurement, project scheduling and budget management
