Project Coordinator – Emergency Response

About the role

Medair is seeking a Project Coordinator to lead the implementation and coordination of rapid emergency projects across multiple sectors in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Goma, you will work directly with local authorities, donors, and humanitarian partners to ensure effective response to disease outbreaks, displacement, and severe malnutrition.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the overall implementation of designated projects, ensuring objectives are met within time and budget constraints.
• Develop and manage comprehensive activity plans, including resource needs analysis.
• Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation, reporting results to in‑country managers, GSO managers, and donors.
• Maintain situational awareness of the regional context and contribute to strategic development of new projects.
• Represent Medair at meetings with government officials, UN agencies, NGOs, and coordination bodies such as OCHA.
• Coordinate with other rapid response actors (e.g., NRC, Mercy Corps) and lead or participate in RRM workgroups.
• Plan and construct project budgets in line with donor guidelines and ensure financial compliance.

Required profile

• Proven ability to provide leadership, strategic direction, and evaluation of humanitarian projects.
• Experience liaising with local and national authorities, donors, and multi‑sectoral partners.
• Strong team‑leadership and security awareness in field settings.
• Willingness to work full‑time on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract in a challenging environment.
