Project Director – Human Trafficking in DRC Mining Sector

About the role

Pact is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead a donor‑funded initiative that will investigate human trafficking within the Democratic Republic of Congo’s tantalum, tin, and tungsten (3T) supply chains and co‑design a responsive program model. The role demands strong networks across the DRC mining sector and the ability to convene senior government officials, private‑sector actors, civil‑society groups, and community representatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and day‑to‑day management of the project, ensuring alignment with donor objectives and project goals.
• Supervise the Research Lead and oversee high‑quality technical implementation, including KIIs, FGDs, and multi‑stakeholder workshops.
• Coordinate activities among donors, host‑government authorities, private‑sector partners, NGOs, community‑based organizations, and implementing partners.
• Lead stakeholder consultations, co‑design workshops, and feasibility pilots to develop an evidence‑based response model.
• Maintain an adaptive, collaborative approach to project management and ensure rigorous monitoring and evaluation.

Required profile

• Proven experience directing donor‑funded projects, preferably in complex, sensitive environments.
• Extensive network within the DRC mining sector and demonstrated ability to engage senior officials and diverse stakeholders.
• Strong background in applied research and facilitation, including conducting key informant interviews and focus group discussions.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
