Project Director – Humanitarian Programme

About the role

The Kinga Maisha multi‑sectoral programme in Ituri province is a 12‑month response to the 17th Ebola outbreak in Eastern DRC. Reporting to the Field Manager, the Project Director will lead the Save the Children component of a consortium that includes the International Rescue Committee and AJEDEC, delivering health, nutrition, IPC/WASH, protection and coordination interventions across 13 health zones.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and governance for the consortium, ensuring harmonised approaches, compliance and timely reporting.
• Manage delivery of all Save the Children components—health, nutrition, IPC, WASH, RCCE and protection—ensuring safety, quality, budget adherence and on‑time implementation.
• Represent the consortium in national and regional coordination mechanisms, aligning activities with the DRC national response plan.
• Collaborate with technical teams in Bunia, the DRC country office and global partners to integrate interventions and promote conflict‑sensitive approaches.
• Oversee complementary projects as needed and adapt working hours during major humanitarian emergencies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading complex, multi‑partner humanitarian awards, preferably US Government funded, with proven consortium governance and donor compliance.
• Demonstrated technical and operational leadership in Ebola or other high‑consequence infectious disease outbreaks covering IPC/WASH, health, nutrition, RCCE and protection.
• Proven ability to hold overall budget responsibility for large awards, manage risk and drive evidence‑based programming across multiple sectors and sites.
• Strong experience in aligning and coordinating with multiple humanitarian actors and teams.
