Protection Caseworker Associate

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a Protection Caseworker Associate to deliver safe, dignified post‑arrival assistance to migrants in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role operates under the supervision of the Migrant Protection Officer and Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct individual protection screening of arriving migrants, identify vulnerabilities and protection risks, and develop individualized case plans.
• Provide case management services, coordinate referrals to legal, health, psychosocial, GBV, child protection and other specialized services, and ensure continuity of assistance.
• Maintain accurate case data in IOM’s case management systems (e.g., MiMOSA) while ensuring confidentiality and data protection.
• Coordinate with operational staff and partners, participate in local protection coordination forums, and contribute to reporting and monitoring of protection indicators.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law or related field with at least two years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with four years of experience.
• Experience in protection case management for survivors of GBV, human trafficking, children at risk, or other vulnerable migrants in humanitarian or migration contexts.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with trauma‑affected individuals, and capacity to collaborate with diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Fluency in English, French and Spanish (oral and written).

Required skills

• Proficiency with IOM case management tools, especially MiMOSA.
• Advanced use of MS Office (Word, Excel) for reporting and documentation.
