Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Coordinator

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Coordinator to lead RCCE activities for the Ebola response in Bunia, Democratic Republic of Congo. The role provides strategic technical leadership and operational support for community‑based risk communication, rumor management and engagement throughout a 12‑month fixed‑term assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight for RCCE programming, ensuring two‑way, responsive information flow between health authorities, RECOs and communities.
• Support RECOs in planning and delivering community engagement sessions, risk communication messages and rumor‑tracking mechanisms.
• Coordinate with Ministry of Health, provincial authorities and partner organisations to align RCCE activities with broader Ebola response efforts.
• Integrate accountability and safeguarding standards across all RCCE interventions.
• Monitor and report on community feedback, misinformation trends and the impact of communication strategies.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in risk communication, community engagement or public health messaging in humanitarian or outbreak settings.
• Ability to work effectively in conflict‑affected environments and collaborate with multi‑sectoral teams.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills to track communication outcomes.
• Fluency in English; additional local language skills are an advantage.
