Security Officer (6‑month temporary) – Butembo, DRC

About the role

The Security Officer will support UNICEF’s emergency response in the Democratic Republic of Congo by providing technical, operational and administrative assistance on security planning, risk assessment and asset protection. Reporting to the Hub Coordinator in Beni and the Security Adviser in Kinshasa, the officer ensures the safety of staff, eligible family members and UNICEF premises.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update security plans and risk assessments for the duty station.
• Monitor and advise on security threats, including community and health‑care related risks.
• Coordinate security measures with the Hub Coordinator and Security Adviser.
• Safeguard UNICEF assets, premises and resources.
• Provide timely security briefings and support to field staff.

Required profile

• University degree in Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Diplomatic Studies, Counter‑Terrorism or a related field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in global security risk management or security analysis.
• Ability to work in a complex, insecure environment and adapt to evolving situations.
