Security Specialist (P-3) – 6‑month Temporary Assignment

About the role

The Security Specialist (P-3) will support UNICEF’s response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Working from Bunia, the incumbent will advise the Hub Coordinator and the Security Adviser on security matters, ensuring the safety of staff, assets and programme operations in a complex and insecure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide security risk analysis and advice in line with United Nations and UNICEF Security Management Systems.
• Develop and implement security risk mitigation measures and contingency plans.
• Manage day‑to‑day security activities, including risk monitoring, incident reporting and security networking.
• Support programmatic security information analysis and contribute to knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Coordinate with partners and local authorities to strengthen security partnerships.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in security or a related field.
• Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts with exposure to insecure settings.
• Familiarity with UN security management frameworks and ability to operate under matrix management.
