Security Specialist (P-3) – Temporary Appointment, 6 months

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Security Specialist (P-3) on a six‑month temporary appointment to support its operations in Bunia, Democratic Republic of Congo. The role reports to the Hub Coordinator and works closely with the UNICEF Security Adviser to ensure the safety of staff, assets and programme delivery in a complex humanitarian environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide security risk analysis and advice in line with UN and UNICEF security management systems.
• Develop and implement security risk mitigation measures for personnel, assets and programmes.
• Coordinate security services, including incident reporting, travel clearance and emergency response.
• Analyse security information to inform programme planning and field operations.
• Build and maintain partnerships with local authorities, UN agencies and other stakeholders to enhance security networking.
• Contribute to innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives within the security team.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in security management, preferably in humanitarian or conflict‑affected settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, adapt to evolving security contexts and provide clear, actionable advice.
• Strong understanding of UN security policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with diverse partners.
