Senior Advisor – Sanitation Market Systems (DRC)

About the role

The Senior Advisor I, Sanitation Market Systems will be based in Goma, DRC and will lead technical activities for a $25 million USAID‑funded Rural and Peri‑Urban Sanitation Activity. The role focuses on strengthening sanitation markets to increase sustained access to basic sanitation services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development of the project’s technical strategy to improve demand and supply of affordable, higher‑quality sanitation products and services.
• Provide remote and in‑country technical assistance to network members, building their capacity to deliver results in line with PSI and global best practices.
• Support interventions in sector governance, demand creation, finance, and supply‑side strengthening.
• Prioritize local capacity building and facilitate transition of implementation responsibilities to local entities.
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on program outcomes to ensure alignment with objectives.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, sanitation, development economics, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in sanitation market systems or comparable development work.
• Proven experience managing large‑scale development projects, preferably in the DRC or similar contexts.
• Ability to travel internationally 10‑25% of the time.
• Fluency in English; French proficiency is a plus.
