Senior Hydrogeology Superintendent – Underground Mining

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Superintendent to lead hydrogeology operations for an underground copper mine. The role ensures safe, continuous production by managing groundwater risks and integrating hydrogeological data into mine planning.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, monitor, predict and control underground water inflows and high‑pressure aquifer systems.
• Develop and oversee dewatering infrastructure, aquifer depressurisation and hydro‑cover drilling programmes.
• Integrate hydrogeological considerations into short‑term and long‑term mine plans.
• Maintain groundwater monitoring networks and analyse data to support operational decisions.
• Lead hydrogeology teams and contractors, ensuring compliance with safety and risk‑management standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering or related field.
• Post‑graduate qualification in Hydrogeology or Groundwater Engineering is preferred.
• 10–15 years of experience in underground mine hydrogeology, preferably in large‑scale mechanised operations.
• Proficiency in business English; French or Swahili is an advantage.
