Senior Officer, Buyer

About the role

The Senior Officer, Buyer will lead procurement activities for the Kamoa Copper Mine, ensuring the acquisition of materials, supplies and services at the best quality, price and lead‑time. Reporting to senior management, the incumbent will supervise a team of Buyers and an Assistant while acting as the procurement subject‑matter expert.

Key responsibilities

• Qualify suppliers, evaluate bids and negotiate contracts to secure favourable terms.
• Track purchases, monitor vendor performance and maintain an up‑to‑date supplier database.
• Coordinate with Logistics, Warehouse and Finance to ensure smooth delivery and timely payments.
• Lead a team of Buyers, providing coaching and performance oversight.
• Monitor costs, drive cost‑efficiency initiatives and support transformation and cultural integration projects.
• Integrate HSEQ requirements into procurement processes and contribute to reporting and governance.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Procurement, Supply Chain or Finance.
• Minimum 8 years of buying experience in mining, manufacturing or engineering, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Fluent business English; French or Swahili is a strong advantage.
• Highly numerate, commercially minded and able to manage risk in a high‑volume environment.
• Strong analytical, organisational and cross‑cultural communication skills.
