Senior Outbreak Response Coordination Lead (STRIDES)

About the role

PATH is seeking a senior professional to lead outbreak response coordination for the STRIDES project in Bunia, Ituri Province, DRC. The role focuses on Ebola and other epidemic‑prone diseases, providing technical and operational leadership across provincial and national health structures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior‑level field coordination and technical leadership for STRIDES‑supported outbreak preparedness and response activities.
• Serve as the primary Bunia‑based coordination focal point, ensuring effective communication among field teams, provincial authorities, health‑zone teams, national counterparts, and partners.
• Align project activities with Government of DRC response priorities, incident management structures, and partner coordination mechanisms.
• Coordinate closely with MOH, COUSP, INSP, INRB, DSE, PNHF, Ituri DPS, BCZs, MCZs, health‑area and health‑center teams, and community health workers.
• Facilitate coordination across response pillars such as surveillance, case management, contact investigation, logistics, data management and operations.
• Identify coordination gaps, duplication or bottlenecks and propose practical solutions.
• Track actions, timelines and responsible parties, and provide regular updates to STRIDES leadership.
• Support rapid prioritisation of response activities based on epidemiological risk and operational feasibility.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in disease surveillance and Ebola outbreak response in the DRC.
• Proven ability to coordinate complex field operations with national, provincial and health‑zone authorities.
• Experience working with WHO, Africa CDC, CDC, UN agencies and NGOs in outbreak settings.
• Strong understanding of national guidance, International Health Regulations and One Health approaches.
• Ability to operate effectively in high‑pressure, politically sensitive environments.
