Senior Protection Associate

About the role

The Senior Protection Associate will support the implementation of migrant protection programmes in Kinshasa, DRC, focusing on return, readmission, reintegration and counter‑trafficking activities. Reporting to the Migrant Protection Officer, the role ensures case management adheres to international standards and IOM policies.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise protection caseworkers, monitor activities, and ensure timely reporting.
• Identify protection risks, coordinate referrals to specialized services, and provide pre‑departure counselling and assistance.
• Represent IOM in coordination forums such as the Gender‑Based Violence Sub‑Working Group and Protection Cluster.
• Maintain 100% compliance of data collection tools (MIMOSA) and oversee data entry.
• Coordinate capacity‑building activities and deliver trainings to staff and partners.

Required profile

• University degree with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in migration or protection.
• Experience working with mixed migrant populations, including victims of trafficking and vulnerable migrants.
• Proven ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders, including government, UN agencies and NGOs.
• Fluency in English and French (oral and written); working knowledge of Spanish is desirable.
