Corrections Officer

About the role

The Corrections Officer will support the development and implementation of strategies to strengthen the corrections system in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, working closely with national counterparts and UN partners.

Key responsibilities

• Advise, coach and mentor national counterparts on corrections policies, legislation, rehabilitation of facilities and management of prisoners.
• Facilitate ‘one‑UN’ coordination of assistance to the national prison sector and support justice sector reforms.
• Provide technical assistance for training programmes, international assistance mobilization and linkage with development partners.
• Monitor outputs such as reports, policy documents and guidelines, and oversee budgeting, reporting and staff performance management.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in law, criminal justice, social sciences or management.
• At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in a corrections system, including policy and planning.
• Minimum one year of management experience.
• Fluency in English and French (oral and written).
