Senior Protection Coordinator (P)

About the role

The Senior Protection Coordinator will lead IOM’s protection initiatives, ensuring the rights of migrants and displaced persons are respected and upheld across operational contexts. This senior position works closely with governments, inter‑agency partners and civil society to mainstream protection and reduce exposure to violence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement protection strategies aligned with IOM’s approach and international standards.
• Provide thematic guidance, direct assistance, advocacy and capacity‑building to states and partners.
• Coordinate data collection, research and learning activities to inform protection interventions.
• Facilitate dialogue and convening mechanisms among stakeholders to promote protection mainstreaming.
• Monitor and report on protection outcomes, ensuring accountability and compliance with relevant legal frameworks.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in protection, migration or humanitarian fields, preferably at senior level.
• Strong knowledge of international protection standards, human rights law and the Inter‑Agency Standing Committee guidelines.
• Proven ability to work with governments, UN agencies and NGOs in complex environments.
• Excellent coordination, analytical and communication skills.
