Senior Superintendent – Ventilation Engineer

About the role

KAMOA COPPER SA is seeking a senior leader to establish and manage a world‑class Ventilation Engineering function for its large, near‑surface copper mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role reports to the Business Unit and is responsible for safe, efficient ventilation across all underground operations.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, coordinate and lead a high‑performing Ventilation Engineering department.
• Design, implement and oversee the mine’s ventilation system and related governance structures.
• Manage contractors and service providers delivering ventilation services.
• Drive continuous improvement, problem solving and emergency preparedness.
• Engage stakeholders to ensure optimal customer experience throughout the value chain.
• Build and maintain a capable, high‑performing team.
• Ensure financial integrity of the ventilation function and support transformation initiatives.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Advanced Certificate in Mine Environmental Control.
• Minimum 15 years of ventilation engineering experience in underground mining.
• At least 10 years of managerial experience.
• Proficiency in business English; French and Swahili are highly advantageous.
