Senior WASH/IPC Advisor (P-5) – 6‑month TA in Bunia, DRC

About the role

The Senior Adviser WASH/IPC will provide strategic leadership for UNICEF’s water, sanitation, hygiene and infection prevention and control response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the Ebola Response Senior Project Coordinator and under the technical guidance of the Chief WASH, the adviser will ensure that interventions are evidence‑based, coordinated with government plans and integrated across all response pillars.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning, policy dialogue and technical guidance for WASH/IPC activities.
• Coordinate inter‑agency efforts and align UNICEF priorities with the Ebola Incident Management structure.
• Mobilize resources and oversee the allocation of WASH/IPC funding.
• Ensure interventions are prioritized according to epidemiological and operational evidence.
• Integrate WASH/IPC measures with case management, safe burial, risk communication, logistics and other response components.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in WASH and IPC within humanitarian or emergency health contexts.
• Proven senior leadership and coordination skills in complex, insecure environments.
• Ability to work closely with government authorities, UN agencies and NGOs.
• Strong analytical capacity to translate epidemiological data into operational actions.
