Social and Behavior Change Advisor – Sanitation Activity

About the role

Catholic Relief Services is seeking a Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Advisor to lead the design, implementation and monitoring of an evidence‑based SBC framework for a multi‑year sanitation project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role will support the Country Program’s sanitation activities across several provinces, ensuring high‑quality, impact‑driven WASH programming.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee an integrated SBC strategy based on stakeholder knowledge, attitudes and practices.
• Design, manage and monitor evidence‑based behavior change interventions to increase demand for sanitation products and services.
• Provide technical oversight for the development and implementation of the Country Program’s sanitation programming.
• Coordinate with project teams, partners and local authorities to ensure alignment with CRS’s humanitarian objectives.
• Track and evaluate the impact of SBC activities, producing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, social sciences, international development or a related field.
• Significant experience designing and managing SBC interventions in WASH or humanitarian contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work in complex, multi‑province projects in fragile settings.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with experience using evidence to guide program decisions.
