About the role
The Social and Behaviour Change Officer will support UNICEF’s Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of Congo by designing, implementing, monitoring and reporting evidence‑based risk communication and social‑behaviour change interventions. Working under the guidance of the SBC/RCCE Specialist and the RCCE coordinator, the officer will engage communities, gather feedback and help adapt response actions to local contexts. The officer will also contribute to community engagement, social listening, and capacity‑building activities to promote protective behaviours and strengthen trust among affected populations.
Key responsibilities
- Generate and monitor evidence, and manage community feedback mechanisms.
- Plan, implement and coordinate field activities for risk communication and social‑behaviour change.
- Develop and maintain partnerships, ensure efficient use of resources and provide operational support.
- Build capacity of partners and facilitate learning across response teams.
- Coordinate with government authorities and local partners to align communication strategies with national response plans.
Required profile
- University degree in social or behavioural sciences, communication, public health or a related field.
- Minimum two years of professional experience in social development programme planning, communication for development, risk communication or related areas.
- Fluency in French; knowledge of another UN language or English is an asset.
