Social & Behaviour Change Officer (RCCE) – 6‑month temporary role

About the role

The Social & Behaviour Change Officer will support UNICEF’s Ebola response in the North Kivu and Ituri provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the RCCE/Social and Behaviour Change Specialist, the officer will design, implement and monitor community‑focused risk communication and behaviour change interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Generate evidence, monitor trends and collect community feedback to inform response actions.
• Plan, implement and coordinate field activities across Butembo, Beni and Bunia.
• Facilitate partnerships, manage resources and provide operational support for RCCE activities.
• Build capacity of local partners and staff through training and learning sessions.
• Support social listening, community engagement and feedback mechanisms to strengthen trust.

Required profile

• University degree in social and behavioural science, sociology, anthropology, communication studies or related field.
• Experience in community engagement, risk communication or behaviour change in humanitarian or health emergencies.
• Ability to work in insecure, multi‑cultural settings and adapt quickly to evolving contexts.
