Social & Behaviour Change Specialist (RCCE) – 6‑Month Temporary Role

About the role

The Social and Behaviour Change Specialist will design and implement Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) strategies for the Ebola response in the Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the Ebola RCCE Coordinator based in Bunia, this six‑month temporary appointment supports UNICEF’s multi‑sectoral approach to protect children and vulnerable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and coordination of RCCE activities across affected areas.
• Engage communities, civil society partners and government counterparts to generate evidence and promote measurable behaviour change.
• Build capacity of local partners and deliver programme components that strengthen surveillance, infection prevention and essential services.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of communication interventions and adapt strategies as needed.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in economics, public policy, social sciences or a related field.
• Relevant experience in social and behaviour change, health communication or emergency response.
• Ability to work in complex, insecure environments and adapt to evolving humanitarian contexts.
• Strong coordination, cultural sensitivity and stakeholder engagement skills.
