Superintendent II – Underground Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Superintendent II – Underground Engineering to lead and develop all underground engineering operations at the Kakula mine, part of the Kamoa Copper Mine complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role oversees specialists and ensures reliable water, power and equipment maintenance to support continuous mining production.

Key responsibilities

• Execute, control and develop underground engineering activities across the Kakula mine.
• Manage the supply and maintenance of water, power and pumping systems.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, conveyor and mechanical‑electrical assets to ensure business continuity.
• Supervise contractors and service providers, driving problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
• Monitor costs against budget, support transformation initiatives and ensure HSEQ compliance.
• Coordinate and mentor direct reports, fostering effective stakeholder relationships.

Required profile

• Relevant diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Qualified artisan with supervisory training, preferably an electrician experienced with water/pump systems.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a foreman in mechanical‑electrical engineering, pumping and conveyor systems within a mining environment.
• Proficiency in business English; knowledge of French and Swahili is a strong advantage.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving, analytical and risk‑management capabilities.
