Supply Associate, GS-6, 6 months (Ebola response)

About the role

UNICEF is recruiting a Supply Associate (GS-6, 6-month temporary appointment) in Bunia, Democratic Republic of Congo, to support the Ebola emergency response. Working under the supervision of the Supply Officer, the postholder performs skilled procurement and supply work, manages complex procurement and contracting cases and client requests, and may supervise lower-level GS staff. Candidates who have already applied do not need to re-apply.

Key responsibilities

• Plan procurement and contracting services and supply financing (where applicable)
• Handle localization and emergency preparedness tasks
• Manage information, data and reporting
• Lead end-to-end procurement processes with a high degree of operational independence
• Contribute to designing improved supply services and delivery mechanisms

Required profile

• Secondary education, with at least six years of relevant administrative experience in logistics, warehousing, transport, supply chain management or a commercial context; a bachelor's degree may replace three years of work experience, and a master's degree another two
• Demonstrated ability to apply UNICEF (or comparable) logistics and supply rules to complex cases
• Experience in a humanitarian, emergency or public-health-emergency setting, preferably in the DRC or similar fragile, conflict-affected settings
• Fluency in French; knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is desirable

Required skills

• Experience using an ERP system (VISION/SAP supply and logistics modules) and MS Office tools
• Desirable: CIPS certification, SAP logistics modules, Ebola response experience, and relevant professional or university courses in procurement or supply chain management
