Technical Training Superintendent

About the role

The Technical Training Superintendent will lead the development, implementation and monitoring of technical training programmes to ensure employees have the knowledge, skills and competencies required to perform safely and efficiently in mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the site’s technical training strategy aligned with operational priorities and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare annual training plans and budgets, monitor expenditure and ensure statutory training compliance.
• Conduct competency assessments, identify skills gaps and maintain competency frameworks and training matrices.
• Lead trainers, assessors and coordinators, set performance objectives and support their development.
• Produce regular reports on training compliance, effectiveness and budget utilisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Training or related field; professional qualifications in Training and Development are advantageous.
• Minimum 8 years experience in mining operations or technical training, with at least 3‑5 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience with competency‑based training systems in a mining environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and Competency Management Systems.
• Ability to conduct training needs analyses and develop competency frameworks.
• Familiarity with instructional design and competency assessment methods.
• Understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
