WASH Coordinator

About the role

The WASH Coordinator will work at field level to lead water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities in medium‑ to large‑scale emergency responses or longer‑term humanitarian programmes. Based at provincial or sub‑national level, the role combines assessment, planning, coordination and support functions while mentoring local staff.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct sectoral assessments and develop WASH project plans.
• Coordinate implementation, fundraising, recruitment and procurement activities.
• Mentor and build capacity of WASH programme staff.
• Represent the organization in external forums and with donors.
• Prepare clear assessment reports, project proposals and progress reports.

Required profile

• Significant experience in emergency response or fragile contexts.
• BSc/BA/BEng in Public Health, Water Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience managing a WASH team and delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Strong commitment to community participation, accountability and child‑focused humanitarian principles.
• Excellent English communication, political and cultural sensitivity, and flexibility to work in insecure environments.
