Compliance Officer – Democratic Republic of the Congo

About the role

The Compliance Officer will ensure that all Ria Money Transfer operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo meet local financial regulations, internal policies, and international AML/CFT standards. Reporting to the Head of Compliance Africa, the role provides frontline oversight, monitors transactions, supports agent compliance, and serves as the primary liaison with the Central Bank of Congo and other regulatory bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full compliance with Congolese financial regulations and Central Bank requirements, including regulatory reporting and licensing.
• Monitor transactions through Ria’s internal systems, investigate high‑risk activity, and file Suspicious Activity Reports to authorities.
• Conduct regular audits of agent locations, verify KYC documentation, and implement internal control monitoring programs.
• Develop and deliver AML/CFT and compliance training for employees and agents, and communicate regulatory changes.
• Prepare internal reports on compliance issues, fraud cases, AML metrics, and maintain documentation of regulatory filings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in compliance, AML/CFT, or related regulatory functions within the financial services sector.
• Strong knowledge of Congolese financial regulations and Central Bank requirements.
• Ability to conduct investigations, prepare SARs/STRs, and interact effectively with regulators.
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills, with a focus on risk assessment and control monitoring.
