About the role

The Fuel Operations Manager oversees the complete lifecycle of bulk fuel and lubricant assets across remote farming, ranching, forestry and other operational sites. This position guarantees an uninterrupted fuel supply for heavy equipment, fleet vehicles and generators while maintaining strict environmental compliance and fuel quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Forecast daily, weekly and seasonal fuel and lubricant requirements in line with planting, harvesting and operational schedules.
  • Coordinate bulk fuel deliveries together with the Supply Chain Department.
  • Monitor fuel tank levels at multiple remote storage locations to avoid stockouts and optimise delivery timing.
  • Manage distribution from bulk storage to bowsers, service trucks and operational assets.
  • Track fuel consumption by asset, department and project, delivering accurate reports for cost allocation and budgeting.
  • Implement and operate digital Fuel Management Systems to authorise, monitor and record all dispensing activities.
  • Conduct daily reconciliations of physical inventories against dispensing records and supplier invoices.
  • Enforce anti‑theft measures and maintain chain‑of‑custody procedures for all fuel transfers.
  • Perform routine inspections of tanks, containment systems, hoses and related infrastructure to detect leaks or maintenance needs.
  • Monitor fuel quality, coordinate filter replacements and arrange professional tank cleaning services.

Required profile

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in bulk fuel management, fuel logistics, fleet operations or a related field.
  • Experience in agriculture, forestry, mining, military or other remote industrial environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hazardous materials handling, fuel storage regulations, spill prevention and environmental compliance.

Required skills

  • Proficiency with digital Fuel Management Systems for authorising and recording dispensing activities.
  • Experience using fuel inventory management and tracking technologies for reconciliation and reporting.
  • Analytical and reporting abilities to provide accurate consumption data for finance and budgeting.
