Health Information Systems Officer – STRIDES Project

About the role

PATH is seeking a Health Information Systems Officer to lead technical surveillance activities for the STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Project. The role will support the integration of human and animal health data streams into national digital platforms, enhancing real‑time disease detection and response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Key responsibilities

• Provide oversight for integrating indicator‑based, event‑based, and community‑based surveillance, antimicrobial resistance, and laboratory data into platforms such as DHIS2 and SORMAS.
• Design and implement centralized data pipelines and dashboards for real‑time analysis and reporting.
• Assess surveillance architecture, data flows, and system interoperability across sectors.
• Develop secure data‑sharing protocols and governance frameworks to enable multisectoral collaboration.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders to align HIS systems with national priorities and ensure sustainability.
• Facilitate data‑sharing forums, technical workshops, and provide guidance to country and partner staff.
• Review project and donor reports, contribute to publications and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, veterinary medicine, health informatics or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience implementing health information systems and strengthening surveillance in low‑ and middle‑income settings, preferably in the DRC.
• Proven experience with DHIS2, SORMAS or comparable health data platforms.
• Strong understanding of infectious disease surveillance, data governance and multisectoral coordination.
