IT Infrastructure Manager – Databases & Windows Servers

About the role

The Manager, Databases and Windows OS is responsible for the end‑to‑end leadership, availability, security and continuous improvement of Vodacom DRC’s enterprise database platforms and Microsoft Windows server environments. The role ensures that critical technology platforms remain stable, compliant, cost‑effective and aligned with business, cyber‑security, resilience and cloud transformation priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead enterprise database services across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and other approved platforms.
• Manage Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Entra ID integration and related Microsoft infrastructure services.
• Ensure platform availability, performance, capacity, backup, recovery, disaster recovery and lifecycle management.
• Drive patching, hardening, vulnerability remediation, privileged access control and audit compliance.
• Oversee vendors, managed services, licensing, contracts, operational budgets and service‑improvement initiatives.
• Support modernization, automation, cloud transformation and resilient infrastructure operating models.
• Own incident, problem and root‑cause management to improve MTTR and service resilience.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing enterprise‑grade databases and Windows server environments.
• Strong understanding of security, compliance and disaster‑recovery best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage external vendors.
• Excellent analytical and capacity‑planning skills.
