Lead Project Control Specialist

About the role

WSP is seeking a Lead Project Control Specialist to act as the technical authority for project controls within its Power and Energy business. You will provide strategic leadership, governance and expert oversight for high‑value energy and infrastructure programmes, supporting critical decision‑making and client advisory activities.

Key responsibilities

• Define and govern project controls standards, methodologies and assurance frameworks.
• Approve baselines, forecasts and performance reporting for complex programmes.
• Lead resolution of recovery, re‑baselining and performance‑risk challenges.
• Provide strategic advisory on cost, schedule, risk and controls strategy to clients.
• Support large‑scale project delivery through expert reviews and specialist inputs.
• Contribute to work‑winning, proposal development and controls strategy design.
• Mentor senior project controls professionals and develop capability.
• Ensure alignment with governance, financial control and delivery excellence frameworks.

Required profile

• BEng or BSc in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• 15+ years of project controls leadership on major energy or infrastructure programmes.
• Recognised authority in project controls, planning and performance management.
• Professional certification such as MSP, PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner.
