Localization Expert – Humanitarian Response Roster

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking experienced Localization Experts to join its Humanitarian Response Roster. Members will support UN partners and DRC field operations by strengthening local leadership and ensuring effective localisation of humanitarian assistance in emergencies and protracted crises.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and advise on localisation implementation across humanitarian agencies and coordination mechanisms.
• Facilitate collaboration between local NGOs, international NGOs, UN agencies, governments and donors.
• Mentor and support local organisations in accessing coordination platforms and decision‑making spaces.
• Identify barriers to localisation (e.g., access, compliance, funding) and propose practical solutions.
• Support engagement with donors and local actors to promote context‑appropriate localisation approaches.
• Contribute to learning, analysis and reporting on localisation progress and challenges.
• Facilitate strengthening of local leadership through capacity‑building methods.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 3 years experience with localisation in humanitarian assistance.
• At least 2 years international humanitarian field experience.
• Experience working with UN agencies and NGOs is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in English (mandatory) and French (advantage).
• Understanding of refugee and IDP response complexities.
