Project Manager – Energy Projects

About the role

WSP Africa is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead its Energy team on power generation projects across South Africa and the broader African continent. You will oversee multidisciplinary engineering teams, coordinate design and delivery activities, and ensure that projects meet technical, commercial, safety and stakeholder requirements from concept to execution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering complex power generation and energy infrastructure projects.
• Support preparation of conceptual designs, specifications, bills of quantity and tender documents.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, resources and delivery programmes to ensure safe, on‑time, on‑budget completion.
• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with IEC, IEEE, SANS and client‑specific standards.
• Coordinate activities with clients, contractors, stakeholders and internal disciplines.
• Facilitate project meetings, record minutes and provide clear progress updates.
• Prepare comprehensive project reports, cost estimates and budgets.

Required profile

• Relevant technical qualification from an internationally recognised institution.
• PMP certification or professional registration with a recognised project‑management body.
• 15+ years’ experience in transmission and distribution, including substantial substation project delivery.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams on power generation projects.
• Strong commercial and programme management capabilities.
