RCCE Coordinator (SBC) – 6‑month Fixed‑Term in Bunia

About the role

The Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Coordinator will lead UNICEF’s SBC team in Bunia, supporting the national Ebola response. This six‑month fixed‑term position focuses on coordinating community‑focused communication strategies, ensuring they are data‑driven, culturally sensitive, and aligned with humanitarian principles.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate RCCE activities at provincial and inter‑agency levels, aligning partners and government ministries.
• Design, implement and monitor risk communication interventions for Ebola‑affected communities.
• Ensure integration of Age‑Appropriate Programming, gender equity, and PSEA standards into all activities.
• Analyze social and behavioural data to guide strategy adjustments and improve outreach effectiveness.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building among local health authorities and NGOs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in social/behavioural sciences, communication, anthropology, psychology or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience using social and behavioural data to plan and implement risk communication and community engagement in humanitarian crises or epidemics (e.g., Ebola, Marburg, cholera, MPOX).
• Proven ability to work in complex, insecure environments and adapt strategies to diverse community perceptions.
• Strong coordination and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
