Ebola Program Portfolio Director

About the role

Mercy Corps is seeking an experienced leader to direct its Ebola response portfolio in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Based in Bunia, the Portfolio Director will shape strategy, oversee implementation, and coordinate with partners to ensure an effective, evidence‑driven emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic direction for Mercy Corps’ Ebola response across the DRC.
• Oversee portfolio‑level planning, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure timely, high‑quality programming.
• Coordinate closely with the DRC Country Director, program teams, regional and global technical units, and business development colleagues.
• Lead prevention and preparedness initiatives in neighboring Uganda and South Sudan.
• Maintain strong relationships with government authorities, UN agencies, donors, and local partners.
• Ensure compliance with safety, security, and data protection standards in a high‑risk environment.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or health emergency programs.
• Deep understanding of Ebola or similar infectious disease outbreaks.
• Demonstrated ability to work in complex, insecure settings with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and evidence‑based decision‑making skills.
