Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Mining Operations

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will provide strategic and operational leadership for Kamoto Copper Company’s mining operations, overseeing both underground and open‑pit activities to ensure safe, efficient and cost‑effective production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and direct all mining operations, integrating mining, technical, processing, maintenance and support functions.
• Promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with legislation and company standards, and manage operational risks.
• Deliver production, development, productivity, recovery and cost targets while monitoring performance through KPIs.
• Contribute to operational and strategic planning, life‑of‑mine budgeting, capital projects and production forecasts.
• Build and develop a high‑performing mining leadership team, foster accountability and succession planning.
• Manage operations within approved budgets, drive cost optimisation and productivity improvements.

Required profile

• Experienced Mining Engineer with extensive operational experience in both underground and open‑pit environments.
• Proven leadership record in large‑scale mining operations.
• Strong understanding of safety, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to align short‑, medium‑ and long‑term operational plans with business objectives.
