Head of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL)

About the role

Save the Children is seeking a senior professional to lead its Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) function at the country level. The Head of MEAL will design, implement and oversee a comprehensive MEAL system that aligns with Save the Children standards and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage a country‑wide MEAL system for humanitarian and development programmes, ensuring alignment with the organization’s Quality Framework.
• Supervise and mentor the MEAL team, coordinating staff across field offices.
• Lead the collection, analysis, and use of data, including gender, disability and marginalised group disaggregation.
• Ensure accountability mechanisms are in place, fostering trust with children and communities.
• Collaborate with Programme Operations and Program Development & Quality departments to integrate MEAL insights into programme design.
• Prepare internal reports, support donor compliance, and contribute to strategic planning.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven leadership and team‑management skills.
• Strong understanding of Save the Children standards and donor reporting requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and senior leadership.
