Senior Programs Manager – Humanitarian Programs

About the role

The Senior Programs Manager (SPM) leads Samaritans Purse’s relief and recovery initiatives in Bunia, DRC. Reporting to the Deputy Country Director, the SPM oversees the full program cycle, ensures alignment with donor guidelines, and drives partnership development and capacity building.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and empower Program Managers to meet programmatic objectives efficiently, ethically, and cost‑effectively.
• Lead design of concept papers and full proposals, reviewing all submissions before donor submission.
• Facilitate continuous program improvement, ensuring timeliness, relevance, and accountability.
• Review program finance reports, analyze spending, and provide feedback to Program Managers and Finance.
• Coordinate with support departments (supply chain, logistics, fleet) to ensure timely processing of project requests.
• Prepare and submit regular program updates and reports to the Deputy Country Director, donors, and headquarters.
• Visit field sites to support staff, address challenges, and identify new program opportunities.
• Assist senior leadership with strategic planning, policy development, and external liaison with government, UN agencies, NGOs, and donors.

Required profile

• Strong leadership and supervisory experience in humanitarian program management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets and financial reporting.
• Excellent communication and partnership‑building skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to personal faith and ability to serve as a witness for Jesus Christ.
• Capacity to travel to field sites and work in challenging environments.
