Cable Bolt Operator

About the role

The Kibali Gold Mine is looking for a skilled Cable Bolt Operator to join its underground mining team. You will operate a cable bolting rig to install ground support, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in line with Barrick’s standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the cable bolting rig to drill holes, install cable bolts and grout them according to mine specifications.
• Follow geotechnical plans, layouts and ground support standards to avoid over‑ or under‑drilling.
• Perform visual equipment inspections before and during operation, reporting any defects promptly.
• Maintain accurate end‑of‑shift reports and uphold housekeeping standards for equipment and work areas.
• Collaborate with technical and supervisory staff on safety and quality initiatives.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant cable bolter competency certification.
• 3‑5 years of practical experience operating a cable bolter in an underground mining environment.
• Strong understanding of ground support standards and underground drilling practices.
• Knowledge of safety, health and environmental legislation applicable to underground mining.

Required skills

• Cable bolter operation.
• Experience with Sandvik cable bolters (preferred).
• Underground drilling knowledge.
• Ability to read and interpret cable bolt layouts.
• Understanding of ground support standards.
