Ebola Response Consultant – Short‑Term Field Deployment

About the role

PATH is seeking experienced Ebola Response Consultants to join its STRIDES roster. The role involves rapid deployment to the Democratic Republic of the Congo to support surveillance, detection and analytical activities for Ebola outbreaks. Assignments are intermittent and can last up to six weeks per deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day technical and operational implementation of Ebola surveillance and epidemiological response across national, provincial and health‑zone levels.
• Strengthen alert detection, triage, verification, investigation, classification and closure processes.
• Conduct active case finding, retrospective register reviews and investigation of unexplained illnesses or deaths.
• Manage health‑information systems, outbreak data, dashboards and automated reporting.
• Apply GIS and spatial epidemiology tools for geolocation, mapping and cross‑border surveillance.
• Provide training, mentoring and supportive supervision to local response personnel.

Required profile

• Subject‑matter expert in public health surveillance, field epidemiology or infectious‑disease outbreak response.
• Proven ability to work in complex, rapidly evolving field environments with limited supervision.
• Experience in Ebola or other high‑risk viral outbreak settings is preferred.
