Emergency Ebola Watsan Coordinator

About the role

MSF Switzerland is strengthening its emergency response to a large‑scale Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Emergency Ebola Watsan Coordinator will lead water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC) activities across treatment centres, transit sites and community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy rapidly to emerging transmission hotspots and support Ebola Treatment Centres (ETCs), Transit Centres and Isolation Units.
• Design, construct, commission and manage the operation of ETCs and related facilities.
• Implement WASH and IPC measures, including patient flow, zoning, decontamination, waste management and safe burial procedures.
• Provide technical support for ambulance referral systems, vehicle decontamination and staff safety.
• Conduct rapid risk assessments and advise on mitigation measures.
• Support community outreach on hygiene promotion, infection prevention and Ebola control.
• Collaborate with medical, IPC and health‑promotion teams to shape outbreak response strategies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in emergency WASH and IPC coordination.
• Proven ability to work in high‑risk Ebola environments and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness and capacity to deploy quickly to remote or unstable locations.
• Strong analytical skills for rapid assessments and strategic planning.
