Heavy Mobile Equipment Operator

About the role

Kamoto Copper Company (KCC SA) is seeking a Heavy Mobile Equipment Operator to join its ore transfer team in Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the KTC Ore Transfer Team Leader, the incumbent will safely operate a range of heavy mining machines to support ore handling and meet production targets while adhering to strict HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate hydraulic excavators, bulldozers, articulated dump trucks (ADTs), 777 trucks, front loaders and tanker trucks for loading, transport, unloading and storage of ores and waste.
• Follow effective cycle times and shipping instructions, adapting techniques to pit conditions.
• Perform daily pre‑operational inspections, complete checklists and report mechanical defects through the company’s reporting system.
• Identify hazards, take immediate corrective actions and stop work when necessary.
• Participate in safety meetings, safety talks and HSE initiatives.
• Achieve daily and team production targets for tonnage, cycle time and equipment utilisation while minimising downtime.
• Operate equipment in a cost‑effective and fuel‑efficient manner.

Required profile

• State diploma in mechanics, a 5‑year certificate in automotive mechanics or equivalent technical qualification.
• Formal certificate or attestation for driving heavy machinery and valid licences for multiple types of mining equipment.
• 2‑3 years of experience operating heavy machinery in open‑pit mining; experience in large‑scale mining is an asset.
• Ability to communicate clearly and correctly in French.
