Mechanical Engineer – Public Health / Wet Services

About the role

WSP is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specialized in Public Health and Wet Services to join its multidisciplinary consulting team. The role involves delivering design packages, coordinating with clients and senior engineers, and ensuring high‑quality project outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full plumbing and drainage design and calculations according to SANS 10252, SANS 10400, EN/BS standards and, where applicable, IPS or UPC.
• Develop BIM models and CAD drawings for mechanical systems.
• Provide client care by building strong relationships and delivering tailored solutions.
• Lead and mentor junior team members, manage time and resources, and ensure project delivery within cost and schedule constraints.
• Prepare tender documentation, Bills of Quantities and oversee contractor management for wet services systems.
• Apply critical thinking and problem‑solving techniques to complex engineering challenges.
• Produce clear technical reports and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Ensure quality assurance throughout project stages and conduct site inspections.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc/BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years post‑graduation experience.
• Experience in public health or wet services design and construction monitoring.
