Mining Operations Planning Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Mining Operations Planning Manager to lead the development and execution of short‑, medium‑ and long‑term mine plans for our Kolwezi site. The role ensures production targets are met while optimizing resource use and maintaining safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop daily, weekly, monthly and life‑of‑mine plans covering ore and waste production.
• Coordinate production scheduling with geology, operations, maintenance and processing teams.
• Monitor plan vs. actual performance, identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Optimize equipment utilization, haulage routes and pit design parameters.
• Integrate drilling, blasting, loading and hauling plans.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cost‑optimization initiatives.
• Prepare and present planning reports, KPIs and dashboards to senior management.
• Lead, coach and manage the planning team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 8–15 years of experience in mine planning and operations, preferably in large‑scale open‑pit copper or cobalt mines.
• Proven ability to work in a high‑pressure, production‑driven environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management capabilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mine planning software such as Surpac, MineSched, Whittle and Datamine.
• Advanced Excel skills for modelling and data analysis.
• Expertise in open‑pit mine planning and scheduling.
